This policy covers two related but separate things: the Scholar app (the tool you use to track attendance, timetables, and tasks) and the Scholar website (the pages you're reading right now, including our guides). They handle data differently, so we've kept the two sections separate below.
Part 1 — The Scholar App
Data storage: on your device, not our servers
Scholar is built to store your information locally on your own device using your browser's or app's local storage. This includes your attendance records, timetable, tasks, diary entries, and any files you add. We do not operate a server that receives, stores, or has access to this information. We cannot see your attendance percentage, your tasks, or your diary entries, because they never leave your device.
Optional AI features
Certain features (the Jarvis assistant and model-paper tools) use Google's Gemini API to work. These features require you to provide your own Gemini API key, which is stored locally on your device and used only to make requests directly from your device to Google's Gemini API. We do not receive, log, or store your API key or the content of your requests to Gemini. Your use of Gemini is subject to Google's own privacy terms for that service.
Microphone access (voice features)
If you use Scholar's voice features, your device's microphone is accessed using your browser's built-in speech recognition, only while you are actively using that feature, and only with your permission. Voice audio is processed by your browser's speech recognition service (not by us) and is not stored by Scholar.
What this means for you
- Uninstalling the app or clearing your browser's site data removes your Scholar data — we don't hold a backup, because we never had a copy.
- If you use Scholar on a shared or public device, remember that your data is stored on that device.
- We cannot recover lost data, since we have no copy of it.
Part 2 — This Website
Cookies and advertising
This website may display advertisements served by Google, including through Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to our visitors based on their visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings. Alternatively, you can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.
Analytics
We may use standard web analytics tools to understand aggregate traffic to this website — for example, which pages are visited and roughly how many people visit. This data is anonymized and aggregated; it is not linked to your use of the Scholar app.
Contact form
If you use the contact form on this website, the information you submit (name, email, and message) is sent directly to our email address so we can respond to you. We don't add you to a mailing list or share this information with third parties.
Children's privacy
Scholar is intended for college-level students and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
